Please be aware that the District, either directly or through a technology provider, is electing to generally monitor all school-issued devices (as that term is defined by R.C. 3319.325). The monitoring will include the following features: location tracking and student interactions with school-issued devices (e.g., keystrokes and web-browsing activity). The District generally monitors these features for the noncommercial education purpose of instruction, technical support, and/or exam proctoring. Additionally, these features are generally monitored as a necessary precaution for preventing and/or responding to threats to life or safety.

9/26/2024 Dear Families, I want to take a moment to address the recent online threats that have been reported against Alexander and other schools in our area and across the state. We understand how concerning this can be for our community, and I want to assure you that the safety of our students is our top priority. We are closely collaborating with the Athens County Sheriff's Department to investigate these threats thoroughly. They have determined that there is no credibility to the recent threats, but I want to emphasize that we take all threats seriously. Our district is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all students and staff. We encourage you to talk to your children about the importance of reporting any suspicious activity or messages they may encounter. Together, we can help ensure a secure and supportive school atmosphere. Thank you for your continued trust and partnership as we navigate these challenges. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Sincerely, William Hampton Superintendent Alexander Local School District

We are always working to improve and simplify communication between you and Alexander Local School District. Keeping up with your child’s coursework and their teachers directly impacts their wellbeing both in the classroom and at home. School communication plays a big part in all of this, but it’s often not set up to be as simple and easy to access as it could be. That’s what we’re working to solve. This year, we’re adding a new feature called Rooms to our district app. Rooms enables you to have two-way parent-teacher conversations and keep up with classroom announcements. Rooms is replacing the Remind System as the classroom communication tool for parents, students, and teachers. Our district app currently offers Live feed updates District and school news Upcoming events Push notifications for important and urgent announcements With Rooms, you’ll have access to even more exciting features like Two way messaging with teachers, staff, and coaches Classroom announcements, reminders about coursework, and material Behavior tracking for celebrating good behavior and academic achievement So what does all of this mean for you? This means that you don’t need another app or tool to keep up with your child’s teachers and coursework. You’ll be able to find the vast majority of school and district information in one place: within our Alexander Local School District (ALSD) app by searching in your app store. If you don’t already have it, the district app is free and you can search “alexander local schools, oh” in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store! Soon you'll receive an invite to Rooms by email or text. Once you receive the invite, you'll follow the link on your browser to create a login. After you’ve created your login, you can access Rooms through the app. Once you’re there, you’ll see a toggle at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Just touch Rooms to get started. If you have multiple children attending our district, you’ll see them all listed in the menu section of Rooms. We hope this offers you a richer, simpler—and ultimately—easier communication experience. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.
