Dear Families,
I want to take a moment to address the recent online threats that have been reported against Alexander and other schools in our area and across the state. We understand how concerning this can be for our community, and I want to assure you that the safety of our students is our top priority.
We are closely collaborating with the Athens County Sheriff's Department to investigate these threats thoroughly. They have determined that there is no credibility to the recent threats, but I want to emphasize that we take all threats seriously. Our district is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all students and staff.
We encourage you to talk to your children about the importance of reporting any suspicious activity or messages they may encounter. Together, we can help ensure a secure and supportive school atmosphere.

This is a friendly reminder that tomorrow is picture day for PK-2. Grades 3-5 will have picture day on Friday.
Picture Day is fast approaching. Students in the JH-HS will have school pictures taken on September 4th, PK- 2nd grade will have school pictures on the September 5th, and Grades 3 - 5 will be taken on September 6th. Students will be handed an order form at time their picture is taken with instruction on ordering.
Annual Records Update: We still have many students that need to have their annual records update completed by their parents. This is very important so that we have updated emergency information as well as changed addresses and phone numbers. Students must have upto date records in order to participate on field trips. you can get started by following the attached guide. if you need help accessing your parent portal account you can submit a ticket to get a reset at: support@alexanderschools.zendesk.com
Parents - We added a whole section to the parent page with all of the pickup and drop-off instructions for your students. You can check it out here: https://www.alexanderschools.org/o/als/page/parents . We also have a host of other information that is quickly availible to you. You can just click on "Parents" to get to the information that pertains completely to you. If you have not installed our cell phone app, there is no better time than now, It's everything Alexander- right in your hand. Just search your cell phone app store for "Alexander Local Schools, OH" and you will find it. It is super easy to customize for the notifications you want. Our app combines with "Rooms" a parent - teacher communications module to keep you informed about what is happening at the school district as well as providing you a direct link to your students teachers so you know what they are doing in every class they have.

The ribbon cutting celebration for the Alexander Inclusive Playground Project is this Thursday, August 15 from 5:30-7:00. The public is invited to see the new playground and look at plans for future phases. Larry's Dawg House and Kona Ice of Athens Ohio will both be serving free refreshments and DJ B-Funk will be there to make it fun and musical. There will be a short ceremony just after 5:30 followed by the refreshments and music. Please join us at any point in the evening to celebrate our donors, our children, and our community!

We are always working to improve and simplify communication between you and Alexander Local School District. Keeping up with your child’s coursework and their teachers directly impacts their wellbeing both in the classroom and at home. School communication plays a big part in all of this, but it’s often not set up to be as simple and easy to access as it could be.
That’s what we’re working to solve. This year, we’re adding a new feature called Rooms to our district app. Rooms enables you to have two-way parent-teacher conversations and keep up with classroom announcements. Rooms is replacing the Remind System as the classroom communication tool for parents, students, and teachers.

With Rooms, you’ll have access to even more exciting features like

So what does all of this mean for you? This means that you don’t need another app or tool to keep up with your child’s teachers and coursework. You’ll be able to find the vast majority of school and district information in one place: within our Alexander Local School District (ALSD) app by searching in your app store. If you don’t already have it, the district app is free and you can search “alexander local schools, oh” in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store!
Soon you'll receive an invite to Rooms by email or text. Once you receive the invite, you'll follow the link on your browser to create a login.
After you’ve created your login, you can access Rooms through the app. Once you’re there, you’ll see a toggle at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Just touch Rooms to get started. If you have multiple children attending our district, you’ll see them all listed in the menu section of Rooms.
We hope this offers you a richer, simpler—and ultimately—easier communication experience. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.
Work continues on the Inclusive Playground build. The build volunteers have completed the initial installation of equipment and a contractor has leveled and added the aggregate base to the playground. Next steps will be to install the two-tone rubber play surface and allow that to cure and then install the remaining items on the structures as needed. After this is done the systems will be inspected and certified for use. This is great progress made by our volunteers and the committee from the Alexander Inclusive playground (https://www.facebook.com/AlexanderInclusivePG) As a reminder, the equipment has not been completely installed and certified. Additionally the rubber play surface will require some amount of cure time before it can be walked on. We are asking that everyone refrain from walking on and using the playground until we officially open it.
