State Testing

Ohio's State Tests
Last Updated: 11/22/2019 5:50 PM

Each school year, in the fall and spring, Alexander Elementary students take part in statewide testing. In the fall our third grade students take an English/Language Arts (ELA) test and in the spring our third, fourth, and fifth grade students take ELA, Math, and Science tests (according to their grade level).

We here at Alexander attempt to foster an environment where these tests do not become issues of stress for our students, staff, and parents. We encourage each student to do their personal best. Two years ago we implemented a new testing incentive program for our students which encouraged them to truly focus on doing their best on their test. They were awarded tickets for certain actions or behaviors which could then be turned in for a raffle at the end of the year where fun prizes were given away to lucky students.

Our fourth and fifth grade students take all tests online through school laptops. this is something that they are familiar with doing on a regular basis. For our third grade students, we have them take the test using paper and pencil.

Clicking the link below will take you the Ohio Department of Education’s Practice Test Site where your student can practice taking the test at home. This is not required; however, it is being shared as a resource for those unsure of what the test will look like and for practice purposes. Your student will sign in as a guest and follow the instructions to get to a practice test. Your students will also be practicing with this site in their classrooms throughout the year.
