Topics for the Week (05/05-05/09)

Students will review the Reformation topics on Monday and have a test on Tuesday. We will begin discussing the explorers Wednesday. Students will engage in an in-class activity for several days to determine motives explorers had for exploring.

Current event #3 is due Friday.

I have a doctor's appointment in Columbus on Friday. Hopefully he will say I do not need to use the walking boot any longer. This means I'll have to start putting more weight on my left foot again and learn to walk on it. It's been 10 weeks since I fell...it seems like forever! But, I am getting better day at a time and the students have been wonderful! They have all been very helpful and patient with me as I recover.

Current Events

Students will find an article out of the newspaper, magazine, or an on-line news source. They will summarize the article and write their thoughts on the article, whether positive or negative. These articles are due every other Friday. Articles must be at least 20 sentences long. Summaries themselves are usually about a paragraph to a paragraph and a half. Students can turn the assignments in early. I have attached below the check sheet the students have to keep track of the different types of articles they have completed. Students have access to the Athens Messenger, the Athens News, and the Columbus Dispatch here at school. Please ask your son/daughter about the assignments.
