Ohio Achievement Testing Information

     All Alexander Middle School students will be taking the Ohio Achievment Tests during the weeks of April 22 - May 1.  

     Please have your child in attendance these days.  A continental breakfast will be served on a student's testing day. 

Summer Fun

Summer Fun for Special Kids is a three-week recreational summer day camp for
children with special needs.  Any child living in Southeastern Ohio, age six
to fifteen, who has an IEP, can enroll.  The camp will be held at Beacon
School in Athens and will run from July 28th through August 15th.  Camp
activities will include swimming, crafts, music and other structured fun.
There will be a tuition fee, though assistance will be available for
qualifying families. 

The camp is a partnership of Athens City Schools,
Athens County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities,
The Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center, Havar, Inc. and Southeastern
Ohio Chapter-Autism Society of America.

High School Scheduling for 8th Graders

Mrs. Dailey, the high school counselor will be meeting with 8th grade students during science classes May 20.  The students will be given an introduction to high school class selection.  They will also receive their course selection booklet and "wish list".  Parents and teachers are required to sign off of the "wish list".  Students not returning their wish list with appropriate signatures will not be permitted to schedule next year's classes.

A Parent Meeting will be held that evening at 7:00 p.m.

Students will scheduling their classes Thursday, May 22 in the library.

Career Day

Alexander Middle School will be holding their annual Career Day on Friday, May 23.  Any parents interested in sharing their career can call Mrs. Dodrill for more information.
