AlertNow Information
AlertNow is a rapid communication system the Alexander Local School District will be using this year to notify parents in the event of a major emergency, school closings, or general events going on at school. This system will allow the school to make 3000 automated phone calls in 1 minute. Below is a sample of the parent letter being sent home with students. If you would like to participate, but didn't receive the letter, just fill out the lower portion of the sample and sent it to school with your child.
Keeping you informed is a top priority of the Alexander Local School District. That’s why we have adopted the ALERTNOW Notification Service which will allow us to send a telephone message to you providing important information about school events or emergencies. In the event of an emergency at school, you can have peace of mind knowing that you will be informed immediately by phone. You may also be notified of upcoming events through this automated process.
In addition, we are giving you the option to receive a phone call notifying you when school is cancelled or delayed. If the decision to close or delay school is made after 10:00 p.m. or before 6:00 a.m., you would receive the call at approximately 6:00 a.m. If the decision to close or delay school is made before 10:00 p.m. or after 6:00 a.m., you would receive the call as soon as the decision is made.
* Please note that this system relies heavily on electronics and the cause of school closure may not allow the system to work (example: power outage).
What you need to know about receiving calls sent through ALERTNOW
· Caller ID will display the school’s main number when general announcement is delivered.
· Caller ID will display 411 if the message is a dire emergency.
· ALERTNOW will leave a message on any answering machine or voicemail.
· If the ALERTNOW message stops playing, press any key 1-9 and the message will replay from the beginning.
The successful delivery of information is dependent upon accurate contact information for each student, so please make certain that we have your most current phone number. If this information changes during the year, please let us know immediately.
